The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch of Tuolumne River in Tuolumne County is 18 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The natural beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but
if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The river winds through the Central Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. If you
have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your sleeping bag. The put-in is not too far from Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, as you can see on the road map further down. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Lumsden Campground to Wards Ferry Bridge section is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here.

At Tuolumne River all through the summer highs are in the 90's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 50's, and nighttime lows at Tuolumne River during the winter generally sink into the 30's.
