Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The wonderful Trinity County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The West Fork
to Senteney Creek stretch is the only paddling stretch along Van Duzen River. The beautiful Coast Ranges scenery is an added bonus. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way
this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The West Fork to Senteney Creek section of Van Duzen River is 7.2 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Van Duzen River a relatively wet site; the wettest month of the year is regularly December, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is July. Coon Gulch is next to Van Duzen River and is undeniably a great site to have a look at, and Red Rock is an attention-grabbing site
to go to while at Van Duzen River. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff truly is abundant here in the Coast Ranges. During the months of summer at Van Duzen River temperatures are commonly in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 40's; all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Van Duzen River temperatures plunge to the 30's.
