Campground to Chilkoot Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     3 miles   The put-in location is a short drive from Madera, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This section of Willow Creek in Madera County is 3 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Madera County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The nearby     hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful Central Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Willow Creek during the warm months are in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's.   Throughout the wintertime the highs are usually in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Willow Creek.
