Campground to Chilkoot Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     3 miles   If you're coming from Madera it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of California and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. You might     be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The Greys Mt. Campground to Chilkoot Campground section of Willow Creek is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Briefly about the general area: From a rain point of view Willow Creek is a relatively typical location; throughout   January this area sees the most rain; July meanwhile is the driest month. Through the days of summer at Willow Creek highs are frequently in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Willow Creek temperatures descend to the 20's. Willow Creek, Greys Mt.
