The scenic beauty of Madera County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Madera, as you can see on the road map further down. The Chilkoot Campground to Bass Lake stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The Chilkoot Campground to Bass Lake stretch of Willow Creek in Madera County is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. The
wild scenery of the Central Sierra Nevada is great. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside California you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
