The Chilkoot Campground to Bass Lake stretch of Willow Creek in California is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Madera, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The wild scenery of the Central Sierra Nevada is great. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This
is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The wonderful California scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Willow Creek will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

way anyone can get bored here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Slick Rock is an out of the ordinary thing to catch a glimpse of while you're here at Willow Creek; a tour to Willow Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Devils Slide. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Willow Creek; most of the rain falls during January, and the driest of the months is July.
