The North Fork confluence to Salmon River stretch of Wooley Creek is 13 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. The wonderful California scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Wooley Creek attract people from near and far. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking
in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Wooley Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the North Fork confluence to Salmon River section is the only one. If you hurry
you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Klamath Mountains scenery is wonderful. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: At Wooley Creek throughout the summer highs are in the 90's. Through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. The winter comes with
highs in the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Wooley Creek temperatures fall to the 30's. Wooley Creek frequently gets much rainfall; the wettest month of the year is commonly December, that's the one that rains the most while July is frequently the driest month.
