The scenic beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Yuba River is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that.     The beauty of the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great plus for this river. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. The campgrounds here at Yuba River are pretty good. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Yuba City-Marysville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: The landscape around Yuba River is dominated by the Sand Hills, and you simply should pop by Timbuctoo   Bend while you're here at Yuba River. The annual rainfall here at Yuba River is about average; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain; July on the other hand is the driest. A river like this is too good to miss. All year is a great time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you like the outdoors. If you wish for a little side visit, try Big Ravine; one of the best things about this spot is its proximity to Pine Island Beach. The warmest time of the year at Yuba River comes with high temperatures in the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Yuba River plunge into the 30's.
