CLASS I-III 6 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in California are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The scenic beauty of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Yuba River is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
The beauty of the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great plus for this river. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. The campgrounds here at Yuba River are pretty good.
The starting location is a reasonable drive from Yuba City-Marysville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
