The Plumago Crossing to Route 49 stretch of Yuba River - Middle Fork is 22 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Sierra/ Nevada/ Yuba County and the water flowing gracefully down Yuba River - Middle Fork beats anything. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots
in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your sleeping bag. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
Briefly about the general area: This is such
a fun river. A good site right next door to Yuba River - Middle Fork is Bope Ravine. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Jackies Orchard Spring; while you're here you can take a hike along the Lafayette Ridge Trail. You absolutely have to fancy the Northern Sierra
Nevada. Holden Springs is an inspiring site to explore during your stay, and going for a hike along the Humbug Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Yuba River - Middle Fork is a wet spot that gets lots of rain; most of the rain falls throughout January, and
the driest month is July. All through the warmest time of the year, highs regularly are in the 80's at Yuba River - Middle Fork. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Yuba River - Middle Fork.
