The starting point is not too far from Truckee-Grass Valley, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful California scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the     rivers in this state are less manageable. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Route 49 to North Fork Yuba section is just one of them. Briefly about the general area: During the long summer days here at Yuba River - Middle Fork, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's. For the duration of the dark   hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Yuba River - Middle Fork dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. This is a great river. A cool spot to check out near Yuba River - Middle Fork is Granite Point, and Marys Ravine is positively a wonderful location to have a look at. Yuba River - Middle Fork typically gets lots of precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. Man, is there a heap of exciting stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Klensendorf Point is reasonably close to Yuba River - Middle Fork; Rocky Point is something you shouldn't miss while you're here.
