The natural beauty of Nevada/ Yuba County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The Route 49 to North Fork Yuba section of Yuba River - Middle Fork in California is 4.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the
night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, as you can see on the road map further down.
The wild scenery of the Northern Sierra Nevada is great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: All through the months of summer highs here at Yuba River - Middle Fork get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's.
