The beautiful scenery of Sierra County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in California is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Plum Campground to Downieville stretch of Yuba River - North Fork in Sierra County is 13 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all
you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Wild Plum Campground to Downieville section is just one of them. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too.
