The Downieville to Goodyears Bar Bridge section of Yuba River - North Fork is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class II-V section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Sierra County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Truckee-Grass Valley it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the
Downieville to Goodyears Bar Bridge stretch is just one of many. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back
for more. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in California are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

through the summertime highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Through the winter the highs are usually in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Yuba River - North Fork temperatures drop to the 20's. All year is a great time in
the Northern Sierra Nevada if you have a thing about the outdoors. Snake Bar is a fine site to stop at close by, and the Halls Ranch Trail is a great hiking trail close by. Yuba River - North Fork is a relatively wet place commonly with a good deal of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is mostly January, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is July.
