The beautiful scenery of California and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing     to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Yuba River - South Fork are pretty good. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Truckee-Grass Valley, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wild scenery of the Northern Sierra Nevada is great. The Kingvale to Cisco Grove section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: The slopes of Royal Gorge are so inviting noone   can resist, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Glacier Lakes Trail. Summer at Yuba River - South Fork arrives with high temperatures in the 80's with night lows in the 40's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Yuba River - South Fork temperatures plunge to the 20's. Yuba River - South Fork frequently gets much rain; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. This river is so wonderful. Now, you may imagine that's a heap but there's even more exciting stuff to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. A pleasant site to stop by near Yuba River - South Fork is Jones Valley, and the Loch Leven Trail is a perfect hiking trail nearby.
