The put-in is not too far from Truckee-Grass Valley, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. This section of Yuba River - South Fork is 5.2 miles long and     has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. The beautiful scenery of California and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Loch Leven Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and you might also want to pay a visit to Jones Valley since you're here at Yuba River - South Fork. Throughout the warm months at Yuba River   - South Fork highs are usually in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Yuba River - South Fork plunge into the 20's. So many cool things in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just tremendous. Go for a hike on the Glacier Lakes Trail. Yuba River - South Fork sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is July.
