The Cisco Grove to Spaulding Reservoir stretch of Yuba River - South Fork is 7.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V(V+) section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no     problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The natural beauty of California and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Cisco Grove to Spaulding Reservoir section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The river winds through the Northern Sierra Nevada and you get great scenery. There is a delightful hiking trail near Yuba River - South Fork called the Grouse Ridge Trail. A nice location to stop by near Yuba River - South Fork is Sixmile Valley, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Mears Lake Valley Trail.
