This section of Yuba River - South Fork in California is 7.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V(V+) section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The beautiful scenery of Nevada/ Placer County     and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Cisco Grove to Spaulding Reservoir section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. The beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: If you want a little side trip, try Sixmile Valley, and glorious hiking is available along the Grouse Ridge Trail.
