If you're coming from Durango it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a
nearby campground. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Silverton to Tacoma section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but
why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy.
