Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This stretch of Animas River in unknown County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. There are no other sections to paddle along Animas River than the Bakers Bridge to Trimble Lane section. Not
too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people
coming from far and near.

Throughout the winter the highs are typically in the 80's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Animas River descend into the 70's. Animas River is a relatively wet place mostly with lots of rainfall; throughout September this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is May.
