The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section of Animas River is 10 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. Animas River doesn't have
a lot of paddling sections, the Trimble Lane to 32nd Street Park section is the only one. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general
area: All through the summer months at Animas River temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 70's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 80's; nighttime lows in the 70's for Animas River. Animas River is a wet location that gets much precipitation; through the month of September you get the most rain around here while May is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
