The Numbers Launch to Railroad Bridge Launch section of Arkansas River in Colorado is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. The Numbers Launch to Railroad Bridge Launch stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside
this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The nature scenery of Chaffee County and the water flowing gracefully down Arkansas River are reasons enough to
come here and paddle. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.

to Arkansas River, and a great place to pop by is Rose Gulch. Have a glorious hiking adventure along the Wheeler Trail. Arkansas River gets very little precipitation; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while February is ordinarily the driest month.
During the warm months here at Arkansas River, high temperatures mostly reach the 70's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Arkansas River temperatures drop to the 0's.
