And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The beautiful scenery of Chaffee County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people     coming here. The Railroad Bridge Launch to Buena Vista section of Arkansas River is 7 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Elephant Rock is an interesting thing to see if you're here at Arkansas River, and Hop Gulch is also a perfect location to look at. For the duration of the days of summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Arkansas River. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 30's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and after the   sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Arkansas River fall into the-10's. Arkansas River is pretty dry frequently; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.
