The natural beauty of Colorado and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Whether you're whitewater rafting     or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. The campgrounds here at Arkansas River are pretty good. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The Sawatch Range scenery is wonderful. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. The East Buena Vista to Fisherman's Bridge stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Arkansas River. It is very waterless here at Arkansas River generally; during the month of August you get the most   rain around here while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
