The Highway Stone Bridge to Rincon section of Arkansas River is 18.7 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Colorado and the water flowing gracefully down Arkansas River beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.
The Highway Stone Bridge to Rincon stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other spots. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles
activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: For the period of the summertime months highs here at Arkansas River get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 30's; nighttime lows during the winter for Arkansas River tend to be in the 0's. Arkansas River is a location that is pretty dried out
regularly; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here, and January is the month with the least moisture. Bails Gulch is a wonderful site to visit near Arkansas River, and hiking along the Simmons Peak Trail is perfect fun.
