Colorado whitewater - Arkansas River, Front Range, unknown County
Highway Rincon to Pinnacle Rock section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 27.9 miles
The wonderful unknown County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Arkansas River have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Highway Rincon to Pinnacle Rock stretch is just one of them. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are
probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. This section of Arkansas River is 27.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. When you're paddling down a Front Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Canon City, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost.
