The wonderful -blank- County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This section of Arkansas River in Colorado is 27.9 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled
as well. If you're coming from Canon City it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The river winds through the Front Range and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. The campgrounds here at Arkansas River are pretty good.

you're here at Arkansas River. High temperatures at Arkansas River during the summertime months are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Arkansas
River. But wait, there's more enjoyable things to do in the Front Range. Arkansas River gets very little rainfall; August is when you get the most rain here while January is ordinarily the driest month.
