Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Highway Rincon to Pinnacle Rock section of Arkansas River in Colorado is 27.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The natural beauty of Colorado and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Canon City, if you're not familiar
with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and just being out on the river
for a while have people coming from far and near. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Highway Rincon to Pinnacle Rock section is just one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here. The Front Range scenery is wonderful.

meanwhile is the driest month. Now, you may feel that's lots but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Front Range. Arkansas River is in the vicinity of Basin Gulch which is beyond doubt worth going to, and a trip to Mud Spring will fill your soul with great feelings.
High temperatures at Arkansas River throughout the warm months are in the 80's, and the overnight is a tad colder of course, commonly in the 40's. Through the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's, and night lows at Arkansas River during the winter typically dip into the 10's.
