The put-in is not too far from Canon City, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the water flowing gracefully down Arkansas River have people coming here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not     from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater paddling here in the Front Range is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Highway Pinnacle Rock Launch to Parkdale Launch section is one of them. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: Sulphur Gulch is a good spot to stop at nearby. Arkansas River is pretty dry mostly; the wettest month   of the year is generally July, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is January. Through the summer, highs regularly are in the 70's at Arkansas River, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's while Arkansas River night low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the-10's.
