The Blue River Camp Ground to FR 2400 section of Blue River in Colorado is 3 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Colorado and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here
are not as easy as elsewhere. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The beautiful Park Range scenery is an added bonus. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no
problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Blue River Camp Ground to FR 2400 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: A cool spot to pop by near Blue River is Target Bluff; don't
leave Blue River without first going for a hike along the Slate Creek Trail. Blue River is pretty dry ordinarily; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here, and February on the other hand is the driest. For the duration of the warmest time of the year
at Blue River temperatures are commonly in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Blue River. This is such a great river. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Park Range. Erwin Gulch is a good place to stop by close to Blue River; you can go for a hike on the Gore Range Trail.
