The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Silverthorne, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Green Mountain Reservoir to Spring Creek Road section of Blue River in Summit/ Grand County is 3.8 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are a few other sections in
this river system that can be paddled as well. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. No matter if you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beauty of the Park Range is a great plus for this river. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable.
Briefly about the general area: Not much rain falls here at Blue River; through August this area sees the most rain,
and February is when it's the driest. Summertime highs at Blue River ordinarily tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Blue River
fall into the-10's. All the outdoors entertaining stuff in the Park Range will keep you coming back time and again. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Blue River; Surprise Trail is a great local trail. Good hiking is available along the Eaglesmere Trail, and a good site to stop by nearby is Miller Gulch.
