This section of Blue River in Colorado is 3.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. If you're coming from Silverthorne it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The scenic beauty of Summit/ Grand County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that
many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The river winds through the Park Range and you get great scenery. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature
will have you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Green Mountain Reservoir to Spring Creek Road stretch is one of them.

Blue River gets very little rainfall; during August this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Park Range. The Eaglesmere Trail is a brilliant hiking trail close to Blue
River. During the summertime months here at Blue River, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's while nighttime lows are typically in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 20's while Blue River overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are
in the-10's. Near Blue River you discover the Surprise Trail which is a great hiking trail; Miller Gulch is another good site to stop by close by.
