The scenic beauty of Colorado and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks. The wild scenery of the Front Range is great. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. For all you camping people there are campgrounds
nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The Gun Shy to Jasper Creek section of Boulder Creek is 2.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section
of whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Gun Shy to Jasper Creek stretch is just one of many.
Briefly about the general area: Boulder Creek is a location that is reasonably arid ordinarily; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is February. All through the warm days of summer highs here at Boulder Creek get into the 70's; the overnight is quite cooler
of course, frequently in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Boulder Creek. Yeah, come up here to the Front Range for a brilliant time. Boulder Creek is right by the Lost Lake Trail. The Kings Lake Trail offers hiking at its best; the skiing at Eldora is brilliant.
