The Pinecliffe to Gross Mountain Reservoir stretch of Boulder Creek - South in Colorado is 2.6 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area
has a large number of paddling places. The campgrounds here at Boulder Creek - South are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful Front Range scenery
is an added bonus. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The starting point is not too far from Boulder, as you can see on the road map further down.

So much exciting stuff to do in the Front Range, not enough time. Going for a hike on the Mount Thorodin Trail is always a fine adventure; close by you stumble on the Bolling Gulch Trail which is a good hiking trail.
