The Gross Mountain Reservoir to Eldorado State Park section of Boulder Creek - South in Colorado is 7.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV(V+) section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. There
are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The starting point is
not too far from Boulder, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. When you're paddling down a Front Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
