  The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the water flowing gracefully down Cache La Poudre River make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Fort Collins-Loveland it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Long Draw Reservoir to Big South Campground stretch of Cache La Poudre River is 12 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section.
    This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Long Draw Reservoir to Big South Campground section is just one of them. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers
here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not  
pack your sleeping bag too. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.

Briefly about the general area:
Hiking along the Corral Park Trail is nice fun; locations like Roosevelt National Forest are wonderful to go to. Cache La Poudre River is right by the Big South Trail. It is very dehydrated here at Cache La Poudre River usually. The month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the summer at Cache La Poudre River highs are frequently in the 70's, and the nighttime is fairly colder of course, typically in the 30's.
