If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Colorado you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The wonderful Larimer County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Whitewater paddling here in the Medicine Bow Mountains is a great experience. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater
rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Big
South Campground to Tunnel Picnic Ground section of Cache La Poudre River in Larimer County is 2.4 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes.
