The Narrows Picninc Ground to Steven's Gulch Access stretch of Cache La Poudre River in Larimer County is 3.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section. The wonderful Larimer County scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for
a while have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in is not too far from Fort Collins-Loveland, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a
camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. When you're paddling down a Medicine Bow Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes.

rain falls throughout July, and December on the other hand is the driest. High temperatures at Cache La Poudre River during the summer months are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime
lows in the 0's for Cache La Poudre River. There is a fine hiking trail near Cache La Poudre River called the Mount McConnel Trail; a nice place is Buck Gulch. So much cool stuff in the Medicine Bow Mountains, just astonishing. Near Cache La Poudre River you stumble on the Kreutzer Nature Trail which is a great hiking trail.
