Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. There     are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Whitewater paddling here in the Medicine Bow Mountains is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. This section of Cache La Poudre River is 3.3 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the months of summer at Cache La Poudre River highs are typically in the 70's, and all through the   night it cools down to the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Cache La Poudre River dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. And that's not all you can do here in the Medicine Bow Mountains. Going for a hike on the Kreutzer Nature Trail is always a wonderful adventure. There is a brilliant hiking trail close to Cache La Poudre River called the Mount McConnel Trail; a great spot to check out is Skin Gulch. It is very dried up here at Cache La Poudre River ordinarily; July is the wettest month with most rain while December is ordinarily the driest month.
