The Poudre Park Picnic Gound to below Pine View Falls stretch of Cache La Poudre River is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds     nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Front Range is a great experience. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The Poudre Park Picnic Gound to below Pine View Falls section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: Cache La Poudre River is commonly a quite arid location; during July this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is December.   During the summer highs here at Cache La Poudre River get into the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Cache La Poudre River. The Greyrock Trail offers hiking at its best; a brilliant location to stop at nearby is Hill Gulch. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Front Range.
