The below Filter Plant to Picnic Rock Access stretch of Cache La Poudre River is 2.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The natural beauty of Larimer County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The put-in is not too far from Fort Collins-Loveland, as you can see on the road map further down. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has
a large number of paddling places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging
than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. When you're paddling down a Front Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
