The wonderful Colorado scenery and     the cool fresh water will make you feel great. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The to Animas River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Canyon Creek. This section of Canyon Creek in Colorado is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. The beautiful San Juan Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warmest time of the year at Canyon Creek temperatures are generally in the 70's, and the nighttime is rather colder of course, mostly in the 30's. Highs through the winter   are typically in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Canyon Creek are in the 0's. Canyon Creek is pretty arid mostly; the wettest month of the year is frequently August, that's the one that rains the most while June is regularly the driest month.
