The put-in is not too far from Silverthorne, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The Silverplume to Georgetown stretch of Clear Creek in Colorado is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because
these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. The
scenic beauty of Colorado and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes.
Briefly about the general area: If you want to visit some attention-grabbing stuff, visit Pavillion Point; don't leave Clear Creek without first going for a hike along the Silver Dollar Lake Trail. Snowdrift Gulch is a great location to have a look at nearby. At Clear Creek during the days of summer highs are in the 60's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 30's.
The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Clear Creek through the winter typically dip into the 0's. The amount of rainfall that falls at Clear Creek is close to the national average; throughout April this area sees the most snow while October is mostly the driest month.
