The Silverplume to Georgetown stretch of Clear Creek in Colorado is 1 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Clear Creek County and the water flowing gracefully down Clear Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling
rivers. This is an extremely short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The put-in location is a short drive from Silverthorne, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Silverplume to Georgetown section is
one of many paddling sections in this river system. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Silver Dollar Lake Trail is always a good adventure. All through the summertime at Clear Creek highs are usually in the 60's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the
20's, and night lows in the 0's for Clear Creek. An average amount of precipitation falls at Clear Creek; April is when you get the most snow here; October on the other hand is the driest. If you want to stop at some attention-grabbing stuff, stop at Pavillion Point, and a good spot to visit is Snowdrift Gulch.
