Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Clear Creek is 5.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels
right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Front Range scenery is wonderful. The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the water flowing gracefully down Clear Creek are in themselves reasons
enough to come here to paddle. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Lawson to Idaho Springs section is just one of them.
Briefly about the general area: A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Clear Creek; April is the month that gets the most snow, and October is the month with the least moisture. Spring Gulch is a magnificent place to pop by in close proximity to Clear Creek. For the period of the summertime at Clear Creek temperatures
are ordinarily in the 60's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 30's. Through the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 20's with temperatures at Clear Creek dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
