If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The nature scenery of Clear Creek County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. more. Whitewater paddling here in the Front Range is a great experience. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are some good stretches to
paddle in this river system, the mile 267 to Golden stretch is one of them. This stretch of Clear Creek in Clear Creek County is 5.5 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year at Clear Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Through
the wintertime highs are mostly in the 40's, and overnight lows at Clear Creek during the winter frequently plunge into the 10's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Front Range. There's great hiking along the Beaver Brook Trail. Clear Creek gets very little rain; the wettest
month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is January. Near Clear Creek you stumble on great places like Indian Gulch, and Lariat Spring is an inspiring place to stop at while here.
