Colorado whitewater - Clear Creek, Sawatch Range, Chaffee County Chaffee county, to Arkansas River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     3.3 miles   The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Chaffee County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This stretch of Clear Creek in Chaffee County is 3.3 miles     long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The to Arkansas River section is the only paddling section along Clear Creek. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Sawatch Range is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Briefly about the general area: Iwoa Gulch is a great place to spend some time at. All through the summer at Clear Creek temperatures are frequently in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's typically in the 40's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 30's with   temperatures at Clear Creek dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights. Around Clear Creek you don’t get a lot of precipitation; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February.
