This stretch of Clear Creek in Chaffee County is 3.3 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. The wild scenery of the Sawatch Range is great. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and     kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Clear Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the to Arkansas River section is the only one. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Briefly about the general area: Not much rainfall falls here at Clear Creek; most of the rain falls through August, and February is the month with the least moisture. You might want to pay a visit to Iwoa Gulch since you're here at Clear Creek. During the days of summer highs here at Clear Creek reach the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's.
