Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Hot Sulphur Springs to Highway 40 bridge section of Colorado River in Colorado is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. The river winds through the Park Range and you get great scenery. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the
river in one stretch. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Hot Sulphur Springs to Highway 40 bridge section is one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you
want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
