  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Hot Sulphur Springs to Highway 40 bridge section of Colorado River in Colorado is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. The river winds through the Park Range and you get great scenery. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the
    river in one stretch. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Hot Sulphur Springs to Highway 40 bridge section is one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you
want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. All through the summertime, highs
 
mostly are in the 80's at Colorado River while overnight lows are regularly in the 40's. All through the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Colorado River. Colorado River is a location that is rather arid ordinarily; during August this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is February.
Hiking is a popular thing to do around Colorado River; Sulfur Trail is a great local trail.
