There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This section of Colorado River in Garfield County is 3.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater     as a class IV-V(V+) section. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the months of summer at Colorado River highs are commonly in the 80's; the night is fairly cooler of course, generally in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; nighttime lows at Colorado River all through the wintertime typically sink into the 0's. Dolan Gulch is a tremendous place to spend some time at.
