The Platoro Reservoir to South Fork Conejos stretch of Conejos River is 6.4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The wild scenery of the San Juan Mountains is great. The Platoro Reservoir to South Fork Conejos section is the only paddling section
along Conejos River. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The wonderful Colorado scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Conejos River beats anything. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. You might have
to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip.
Briefly about the general area: Conejos River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is usually March, that's the one that snows the most while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime brings highs in the 60's to Conejos River, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. During the

Pinnacles; since you're here you can take a hike along the Conejos Trail. This river is so perfect. Near Conejos River you stumble on Roaring Gulch which is a tremendous place to take a look at, and going for a hike along the Bear Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
