This stretch of Crystal River in Colorado is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. The wonderful Pitkin/Gunnison County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves     down the stream attract people from near and far. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Redstone to Penny Hot Springs stretch is just one of many. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Throughout the summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Crystal River. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 40's. Highs throughout the wintertime are ordinarily in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Crystal River. A trip to Penny Hot Springs will   fill your spirit with nice feelings. Crystal River is a location that is rather dried up ordinarily; August is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest.
