Pitkin
county,
Penny Hot Springs to Avalanche Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV-V 2.1 miles
The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The nature scenery of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The campgrounds here at Crystal River are pretty good. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This section

doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
