Colorado whitewater - Daisy Creek, Gunnison County
Gunnison
county,
40' Waterfall to confluence with Slate River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 1 miles
This stretch of Daisy Creek is 1 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Gunnison County and the water flowing gracefully down Daisy Creek beats anything. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in
one stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is
the only paddling stretch along Daisy Creek.
Briefly about the general area: Daisy Creek is pretty dried up frequently; during August this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and night lows in the-10's for Daisy Creek. Poverty Gulch is a good place to explore next to Daisy Creek.
