This stretch of Dolores River is 19 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. This river system has     a few good paddling sections and the McPhee Reservoir to Dove Creek Pump Station section is one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.
