Colorado whitewater - Dolores River, Montezuma/Dolores County
Montezuma/Dolores
county,
Slickrock to Bedrock section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II+(III) 50 miles
The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The Slickrock to Bedrock section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The Slickrock to Bedrock section of Dolores River in Colorado is 50 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II+(III) section. You might have
to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out. Great exercise and a chance
to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers.
