  The Slickrock to Bedrock section of Dolores River in Montezuma/Dolores County is 50 miles long and is a class II+(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Montezuma/Dolores County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that
    many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
The Slickrock to Bedrock stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system.

Briefly about the general area:
During the summertime months at Dolores River temperatures are frequently in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while Dolores River overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. Around Dolores River you don’t get a lot of rainfall; most of the rain falls during August, and June meanwhile is the driest month.
A tour to Little Gypsum Valley is always fun; going for a hike along the Radium Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area.
