Colorado whitewater - Eagle River, Park Range, Eagle County Eagle county, Redcliff to Tigiwan Rd section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV-V(V+)     4 miles   The wonderful Colorado scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The starting point is not too far from Edwards, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Eagle River is 4 miles long and is a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A     good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. Whitewater paddling here in the Park Range is a great experience. The Redcliff to Tigiwan Rd section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Eagle River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: A perfect site to visit next to Eagle River is Bishop Gulch; there's great hiking along the Fall Creek Trail. Eagle River gets very little rainfall; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Eagle   River, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. Highs all through the wintertime are commonly in the 30's; through the dark hours in the winter at Eagle River temperatures drop to the 0's. Be careful coming to the Park Range, you might not ever wanna return back home again.
