Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. No     need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. There's camping available near Eagle River. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The beauty of the Sawatch Range is a great plus for this river. The wonderful Colorado scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Eagle River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: Eagle River is pretty dry ordinarily; the month with most of the rain is July, and February is the month with the least moisture. A pleasant location in the neighborhood of Eagle River is Eagle   Valley, and what would winter be without some skiing at Beaver Creek. At Eagle River throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the wintertime the highs are generally in the 30's; nighttime lows at Eagle River all through the winter usually fall into the 0's. All the outdoors cool stuff in the Sawatch Range will keep you coming back repeatedly. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Nottingham Ridge Trail.
