Colorado whitewater - Eagle River, Sawatch Range, Eagle County Eagle county, Edwards to Eagle section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     17.4 miles   The natural beauty of Eagle County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. If you're coming from Edwards it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Edwards to Eagle section is one of them. This stretch of Eagle River is 17.4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Sawatch Range is a great experience. If you hurry     you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: Not much precipitation falls here at Eagle River; the wettest month of the year is frequently July, that's   the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. Summer at Eagle River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while overnight lows are regularly in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Eagle River.
