The natural beauty of Colorado and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado     are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The Edwards to Eagle stretch of Eagle River is 17.4 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The river winds through the Sawatch Range and you get great scenery. Briefly about the general area: Not much rain falls here at Eagle River; July is the month that gets the most rain while February   is frequently the driest month. For the duration of the long summer days, highs regularly are in the 80's at Eagle River; the night is quite cooler of course, mostly in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's while Eagle River overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 0's.
