Colorado whitewater - East River, Gunnison County Gunnison county, Gothic Bridge to above Stupid Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV     0.75 miles   If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The wonderful Colorado scenery and the water flowing gracefully down East River make the trip here worthwhile. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling section along East River. This section of East River in Gunnison County is 0.75 miles long and is according to American     Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: It's always perfect to check out Judd Falls, and you can never get enough of the magnificent skiing at Crested Butte. For the duration of the warm days of summer at East River highs are commonly in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at East River are in the-10's. East River is mostly a pretty   dried out site; the month with most of the rain is August, and February is when it's the driest. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Trail Riders Trail.
