The beautiful scenery of Gunnison County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The Gothic Bridge to above Stupid Falls section of East River in Colorado is 0.75 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The
campgrounds here at East River are pretty good. The Gothic Bridge to above Stupid Falls stretch is the only paddling stretch along East River. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these
hotels fill up quick. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: Really wonderful skiing awaits you at Crested Butte. Around East River you don’t get a lot of precipitation; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest
month. Going for a hike on the Trail Riders Trail is always a splendid adventure, and a journey to Judd Falls will fill your spirit with good feelings. Through the long summer days at East River temperatures are frequently in the 70's with overnight lows in the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 30's while East River night low temperatures during the winter are in the-10's.
