Tabernash to Granby section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 9.4 miles
The starting location is a reasonable drive from Silverthorne, as you can see on the road map further down. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Fraser River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Tabernash to Granby stretch is the only one. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or
kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the sparkling of
the sunlight on the water beats anything. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section of Fraser River in Grand County is 9.4 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater.
